Ronit Jinich, MES.

My practice sustains itself at the interface of Eastern and Western understandings of human psychology. My approach is informed by my training as a psychoanalyst and my decades-long study of mindfulness and Buddha Dharma which spans various schools of thought and diverse communities of practice.

I studied Latinamerican Literature as my undergrad at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and I hold a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies from York University in Toronto, Canada, with a focus on self as the site for social transformation. I am the founder of The Living Room, a mindfulness meditation community dedicated to exploring Dharma as a praxis in everyday life.

From 2011-2021, I served as the Manager of Education & Lead Facilitator for Mindfulness Without Borders (now part of The Global MINDS Collective). A leading provider of evidence-based programs on secular mindfulness and social-emotional intelligence to youth, educators, health and corporate professionals in communities around the world.

As a tri-lingual and tri-cultural immigrant settler living in Canada, engaging in the ongoing work of dismantling supremacist cultures and dominant narratives is one of my lifelong undertakings.

In the integration of the old and the new, namely the weaving together of Dharma practice with psychoanalytic theory and contemporary forms of community organizing, I keep finding the wrinkles in the fabric of my social milieu were resisting the status quo and renewing my responsibility towards life-affirming practices becomes possible. Dance and creative writing become companion practices that water my seeds of joy for the long road ahead.
